Cambridge station’s waiting rooms have been refurbished by Greater Anglia at a cost of £190,000. The waiting rooms on Platforms 1 and 4 have new seating, flooring, and decoration to improve passenger experiences.
The waiting rooms also have new information screens and CCTV. They also have space to charge laptops and mobile phones so passengers can work while they wait.
Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, said: “The aim was to deliver more comfortable waiting rooms and better facilities for our customers to improve their experience of travelling by rail.
“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”
Rail travel from Cambridge is set to be improved with a new Cambridge South station. Plans for Cambridge South were approved in December 2022 and the completed station is on track to open in 2025.
