Country pub serves ‘the best ice cream’ in Peterborough according to reviews

After a week of sweltering temperatures followed by downpours of rain, it seems like the British summer has well and truly arrived.

And there are few things as synonymous with summer as ice cream. Sweet, cold and refreshing, it will always hit the spot on a warm day.

Fortunately, Peterborough has many highly-rated options for ice cream – ranging from cafes to dessert lounges and even a pub.

We run through the best options across the city, according to TripAdvisor reviews.

The Talbot Inn

Somewhat surprisingly, this pub takes the top spot on TripAdvisor when it comes to ice cream in Peterborough.

Found in the village of Stilton, to the south of Peterborough city centre, this traditional pub has won many plaudits for its food – including dessert.

One reviewer, who had ice cream to follow a roast pork lunch, wrote: “Waffle with Icecream was srummy, apple crumble and custard well tasty and the ice cream sundae went down a treat.

Maybe not an option to pop in and pick up an ice cream on a hot day, but if you need something sweet after a meal, this might be the best spot.

Creations Dessert Lounge

Found on Burghley Street, this is one of Peterborough’s many sweet treat cafes and lounges.

It also offers Lebanese food and has an impressive score of 4.5 on TripAdvisor.

A wide array of desserts are praised, with one reviewer saying: “Great dessert lounge, serving up an array of waffles, crepes, ice creams, cakes and old fashioned school puddings like cornflake tart.

“I had a full size crepe with strawberries and chocolate sauce. It was so large I could hardly eat it.”

Though its ice cream is highly-rated, there are plenty of other options at Creations.

Ferry Meadows Cafe

Found in Nene Park, Ferry Meadows is one of Peterborough’s finest beauty spots.

Its cafe is one of the best places to relax and take in the salubrious surroundings, with extensive outside seating.

With an average score of four out of five on TripAdvisor, the cafe is praised for many aspects and people claim that it is a perfect spot for families.

The ice cream also scores well, with one reviewer saying: “We only stopped for a Mr Whippy style ice cream in the booth outside the lake cafe. The young boy who served us was so friendly and polite and the ice cream delicious!”

Creams Cafe

This North Street cafe and dessert spot scores well with TripAdvisor reviews.

Its average score stands at 3.5, with one of the most effusive reviews, titled “Sweet tooth Heaven”, saying: “Peterborough is fast becoming a bit of a dessert lounge hub but Creams is one of the best.

“The ice cream selection goes on forever and it makes the sundae combo selection almost endless! I chose the Eton Mess sundae which was a total winner.”

Kaspa’s Desserts

Another venue with a 3.5 average score, Kaspa’s is found on Bridge Street and some customers have said that it has every flavour of ice cream imaginable.

A reviewer who gave it the whole five stars said: “Great ice cream.

“Friendly staff in nice central location. All very clean and bright decorations. Good choice of flavours.”

That will do.
