
Easter bank holidays will cause changes to bin collections in some areas of Cambridgeshire. Local authorities have advised residents to check their bin collection days to ensure refuse gets collected.

Easter Sunday will fall on April 9 this year. The bank holidays for the Easter weekend are Friday, April 7, and Monday, April 10.

Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire
Bin collections will be later than usual following the Easter, early May, and coronation bank holidays. Greater Cambridge Shared Waste, a partnership between Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council, has shared the following changes to bin collection dates:

The partnership has also advised residents using the bank holidays to declutter that they should try to keep unwanted items out of landfill. It has said that people can give unwanted items away to charity shops or via social media.
Peterborough
A Peterborough City Council spokesperson said: “All collections are as normal over the Easter weekend, collections will be as normal on Good Friday and there are no collections on Mondays anyway so Easter Monday will not be affected as such. All of the May Bank holidays will be unaffected also due to being on Mondays.”
Huntingdon
There will be no changes to bin collections over the Easter bank holiday in Huntingdon. Huntingdonshire District Council said: “Our collection crews work on bank holidays so there will be no changes to your collection days over the Easter period.
“Please ensure your bin is our for collection by 6:30am on your collection day.”
East Cambridgeshire
Bin collections in East Cambridgeshire will be changing over the bank holiday. Some collections will be earlier than usual while others will be later.
East Cambridgeshire District Council said: “Please make sure your wheeled bins and black sacks are out for collection by 7am on the day of collection but not before 6pm the night before.” It has shared the following information for residents:
