East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) Heritage Month – Cambridge

Welcome to East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month (Cambridge)- Season of Visibility!

Join us at Storey’s Field Centre to celebrate our diverse cultures and traditions. This in-person event will showcase the beauty and richness of East and Southeast Asian heritage through various activities, performances, and exhibits. Come with friends and family to honour our shared histories and create new memories.

This event is hosted by ESEA Cambridge (the East and Southeast Asian network in Cambridge) , supported by Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum, besea.n, Cambridge City Council and UK Education Garden Center. The aim is to celebrate and promote the visibility of the ESEA community through various engaging activities and discussions for both children and adults.

Event Highlights:

Culinary Delights: Enjoy an exciting lineup of food trucks and vendors offering cuisines from across the ESEA region, including HK HitWrap, Manna Seoul Korean Corn Dogs, Filipino Kuya’s Catering & Takeaway, steamed bao from Cambridge Chinese Academy, Indonesian snacks from Dapur CUK and, and Hong Kong pastries from the Tzu Chi Foundation UK.

Cultural Performances: Experience captivating performances such as East Timorese cultural dance by the East Timorese Community in Cambridge, Southeast Asian traditional martial arts demonstrations by Cambridge Pencak Silat, and dance and poetry by the Cambridge Chinese Academy.

Engaging Panel Discussion: Participate in an engaging panel on collective generational trauma and healing, hosted by expert Natalie Hung, a Taiwanese American clinical psychologist, accompanied by Vina Fernandes, president of the Cambridge East Timorese community, and Angelina Wong Jardin, a British Chinese creator of bilingual music sound books.

Workshops and Activities: Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including play-doh dumpling making, calligraphy and origami workshops, a healing music workshop, Mandarin taster sessions, and face painting.

Explore other exciting stalls from Noralisa, Chorus Music, Henna with Hannah, Nail Sandy, and the UK Education Garden.
