Meryl Streek & The Restarts & The Dirt

LAST GANG IN TOWN present MERYL STREEK + THE RESTARTS + THE DIRT

MERYL STREEK – Emerging in 2022, Irish artist Meryl Streek was unaware of the impact his clash of experimental electronica and explosive punk would have on the music scene around him. Armed with just a microphone and a laptop, in less than a year the Dublin based producer went from playing his first show in a local squat to supporting post-punk legends Public Image Ltd.

His debut album ‘796’ became a politically charged, impactful release, praised as “the most incendiary punk rock album of the year.” With themes rooted in Irish socio-political commentary, the album resonated globally, leading to performances across Europe.

His darkly poetic and brutal follow-up album ‘Songs For The Deceased’, produced by Dan Doherty (Fontaines D.C.), was cited by Metal Hammer as one of the ten best punk albums of the last decade. Blending gritty and grimy post punk style electronic beats, distorted guitars and traditional Irish music as well as his voice to exude fury has produced a righteous musical force. Addressing issues of betrayal, murder, injustice and corruption, the album is a call to arms, transcending Ireland’s borders.

While sticking to the roots of DIY punk culture, his modern punk style is a fitting platform for the raw emotion and biting social commentary that drives his sound.

Influenced by Crass and Chumbawamba, Meryl Streek has shared tours with Kneecap, Dead Kennedys, Enter Shikari and PWEI to mention a few.

With an intense live set that is both confrontational and exhilarating, Meryl Streek pushes the boundaries of lyrical content and performance. His delivery is primal and frantic, literally bouncing off the walls with the vitriol and wrath emanating from him.

Do not miss your opportunity to watch the most crucial artist coming out of Ireland right now in such an intimate venue.

THE RESTARTS – Formed in 1995 in East London, the Restarts play shouty hardcore, infused with elements of ska and old school punk. The band have been hammering their way through the squats of Europe and venues across North America for over two and a half decades, earning themselves a global following of punk enthusiasts. They lend amplification to unheard voices, fighting for social causes and keeping the DIY spirit of punk rock alive and well.

THE DIRT – The Dirt are a transglobal collaboration between Japanese musician Sachiko and partner Jack (aka Leon the pig Farmer), a spoken word artist living in Manchester UK. A punchy psych-punk blast of fuzzed up rock n roll, kicking up dust wherever they perform. The beats are propulsive and the guitar sound is blistering – at times a searing future punk snarl at others sleazy alien surf riffs with a twisted rockabilly edge.

“No one is doing this at the moment where repetitive drone, flirting surf and ear-splitting pedals effects leave you in a trance” – Louder Than War
