Granchester cast spotted filming in Cambridge

Cast members from the popular ITV show Granchester have been spotted filming in Cambridge. Earlier this month, ITV bosses confirmed that filming for series eight of the drama had begun and it appears that Cambridge city centre is being used to shoot some scenes.

The Cambridge University Press Bookshop – located in Trinity Street – took to Instagram to share a video of cast members walking around outside their premises. Tom Brittney, who plays Reverend Will Davenport in the show, is one of those shown in the video shared by the bookshop.

It’s understood that filming has since moved on to Gonville & Caius College. The long-running detective drama is set in the Cambridgeshire village of the same name in the 1950s.

Since first airing in 2014, it’s become one of ITV’s most successful shows, racking up an impressive IMDb rating of 7.9/10. Crews working on the show regularly shoot scenes in and around Cambridgeshire, with any locations showing signs of modern life carefully avoided to give viewers an authentic 1950s experience.

On returning to Granchester for an eighth series, actor Robson Green recently told the Radio Times: “It’s so good to be back on Grantchester. A series that just gets better with age. “Everyone involved is at the top of their game and this incredibly charming, likeable, dark and edgy show is an absolute privilege to be part of.”
