Trains between London Liverpool Street and Cambridge, Norwich and Stansted have been disrupted by a fire at the side of a track in Essex. The line-side fire broke out in Great Chesterford in Uttlesford and trains have been forced to slow down on all lines, with nothing being able to pass through the station while it is being dealt with.
Greater Anglia has advised that the fire means train services running through Great Chesterford station may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until further notice as the response team are still on site dealing with the incident. At the moment trains are unable to pass through the station and the overhead wire is going to be turned off for safety purposes.
According to Greater Anglia, passengers travelling from Cambridge to Liverpool Street may travel via Kings Cross and Greater Anglia tickets will be accepted on that route. London Underground will also accept Greater Anglia tickets on on any reasonable route to Kings Cross. The rail company asked customers to allow extra time for journeys.
