Man filmed touching himself outside children’s play park

A man was caught performing an indecent act outside a children’s play park in Peterborough.

On July 20, members of the public spotted Gary Smith, 46, touching himself outside Fletton Recreation Ground, Peterborough.

Police were called to the scene and when they arrived, officers were shown a video of the incident by a bystander.

After watching the video, one of the officers identified Smith, and he was arrested at his London Road home later that evening.

Smith has a Criminal Behaviour Order which prohibits him from entering public parks.

Following a hearing at Peterborough Crown Court on Wednesday (August 19), he was jailed for 15 months after pleading guilty to outraging public decency and breaching a CBO.

Detective Sergeant Paul Stimpson said: “Smith had clear requirements to not enter any public parks which he blatantly ignored.

“I am pleased he has been given a custodial sentence and he will be closely watched once he has been released.”
