Photos show armed police surrounding Cambs home

Dramatic photos show a standoff between armed police and a young man in Cambridgeshire earlier today (December 21).

The incident took place in Earls Court, Peterborough, on Monday after officers attempted to arrest a man at the address in the early hours of the morning.

Cambridgeshire Police have now confirmed that they were at an address in Earls Close, with officers having attended the scene at about 2am in an attempt to arrest a man.

Officers, including negotiators, armed response units and police dogs were all at the scene with a cordon having been put up on the street.

A police spokeswoman has since confirmed: “A 22-year-old man from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and has been taken to Thorpe Wood police station.”

Photos from the scene show armed officers and multiple police vehicles at the scene, with officers using an extending ladder to enter the property over a fence.

The road was cordoned off at the junction with Knights Mews while police were on the scene.

Officers managed to arrest the suspect and remove them from the property this afternoon after multiple hours.
