After last year’s unfortunate postponement, the CambridgeshireLive Business Awards 2020 are set to take place on Thursday, March 25 at 7pm, headline sponsored by Barclays. The virtual ceremony will be streamed on The Awards Room and is free for everyone to attend. Register for a ticket on www.cambridgeshirelivebusinessawards.co.uk to support our local entrepreneurs’ passion to improve our region’s economy. The nine chosen categories have been curated to showcase the flourishing talents of our community.

Sponsored by Hewitsons, the Hewitsons Award for Innovation in Business celebrates innovation research and development. The winner will be the company who has the most impressive initiative as innovation is so necessary to evolve and improve our local business industry.

Here are the finalists for the 2020 Hewitsons Award for Innovation in Business:

Luminance

Practising law has always been a document and paper heavy task. Luminance is the leading artificial intelligence platform for the legal profession. Founded by mathematicians from the University of Cambridge, Luminance has developed the first real application of machine learning to the legal industry: the Legal Inference Transformation Engine. It combines pattern-recognition technology with supervised and unsupervised machine learning to read and understand human language.

Mogrify

Mogrify has developed a proprietary direct cellular conversion technology. It allows the transformation of any human cell type into any other without having to go through other stem cells or states. The systematic big-data approach uses next-generation sequencing, gene regulatory and epigenetic network data to control the transcriptomic network. This technology opens up the opportunity to develop and scale up any autologous and allogeneic cell therapies, as well as create a new class of therapies: in vivo reprograming.

PhoreMost’s SITESEEKER Platform

PhoreMost’s unique drug target identification platform, SITESEEKER®, leverages the diversity of protein shape to drive the discovery of new druggable sites on previously unanticipated protein targets. The translation of this biological shape information into chemical shape space information is able to rapidly yield first-in-class drug discovery programs.
