Suspected drink driver on the run from police after crashing into wall

A suspected drink driver is on the run from police after crashing into a wall.

Police were called after reports that a Mini had collided with a wall at the front of a house in Foxton, along the A10 in South Cambridgeshire.

The incident was flagged up by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Road Policing Unit on Twitter in the early hours of this morning (Sunday July 26).

A picture from the scene shows the blue Mini embedded in the wall, with debris on the floor around it.

Police say that when they arrived, the driver had already fled the scene. It is suspected a drink driver may have been involved after police said there was a smell of alcohol in the vehicle.

Posting at 12.52am, the BCH team said: “Single vehicle collision into a wall in Foxton.

“The driver didn’t wait around to speak to us.

“The smell of alcohol probably explains why. Enquiries on going to locate the driver.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambridgeshire Constabulary on 101.
