The firm looked at every commuter town around London and, using several metrics, judged whether or not they were worth the money.

The results were calculated by combining information such as the average property price, annual season ticket cost and typical travel time to London.
For those who regularly make their way into the capital for work or otherwise, there’s a clear trade-off between property price, travel time and travel cost.
On average, a 10-minute increase in travel time reduces property prices by a whopping £21,762, CBRE found.
The top 10 ‘best value’ commuter towns threw up several surprising results – and several can be found right here in Cambridgeshire.

The top spot went, perhaps surprisingly, to Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.
The travel time to London is a speedy 44 minutes, and the average house price is reasonable at £300,903, with the average monthly rent for a two-bed currently estimated at £901.

Huntingdon came in at number two on the ‘best value’ commuter towns list.
While properties are definitely cheaper here than they are in Biggleswade, this does come with a rade-off when it comes to journey time to London.
Commuters can expect to spend 63 minutes travelling to the capital, while they’ll be able to save on the average house price, which sits at £269,481, or an average monthly rent, which sits at £792.

Peterborough, Cambridgeshire came in at number six on the list.
And while the city is cheaper still than Huntingdon, it’s yet further away from London, which brings higher costs when it comes to the annual train season ticket, which costs £6,936
On the other hand, the average house does cost a mere £177,741, while the rent for a two-bed flat is £770.

Sandy, Bedfordshire is the eighth most undervalued commuter town, according to CBRE.
The average house price here is £285,709, while the rent for a two-bed is £726.
The travel time to London is 48 minutes.
