Nine-year-old Rohan Moorjani produced a cricketing moment to remember while captaining the Great Shelford Cricket Club Under 9 side in a Cambridgeshire Youth Cricket Association league match against Histon, taking an astonishing six wickets in six consecutive balls.

On Sunday 21st June, Father’s Day, the young bowler stunned players, coaches, family and spectators alike, as wicket followed wicket in a remarkable over. At Histon & Impington Recreation Ground, supporters from both teams watched in disbelief before applauding the amazing achievement as Rohan claimed his sixth wicket.

Taking six wickets with six balls in a single over, often referred to as a perfect over, is an exceptionally rare accomplishment. While it has been recorded only a handful of times in local cricket, it has never been achieved in professional cricket. All six wickets in the over came from Rohan’s consistently accurate bowling, with each delivery hitting the stumps directly. His jubilant teammates celebrated by lifting him into the air at the end of the over, recognising the significance of what they had just witnessed.

Rohan finished with outstanding bowling figures of 6 wickets for 0 runs from one over and was presented with the match ball after the game. The coaches also named him Player of the Match in recognition of his extraordinary performance in a winning effort, one that will be remembered for years to come.
