One of the oldest pubs in Cambridge has reopened following an autumn refurbishment. The Pickerel Inn, on Magdalene Street in the heart of Cambridge, underwent the refurbishment to “add some carefully curated, modern-day comforts”, according to Greene King.
The pub closed to the public on September 16 and has officially reopened to customers again with a brand new look. The Pickerel Inn dates back to 1608, making it one of the city’s oldest pubs, and is believed to have been a favoured watering hole of CS Lewis.
Just as it has done for hundreds of years, it remains a popular choice for regulars, tourists, friends, families, and students with a good range of food and drinks to suit all diets, appetites and occasions.
Karl Harris, general manager of The Pickerel Inn, said: “This is such a special pub, right in the heart of this amazing city. With a past which boasts a gin palace, malting house, ghosts and more, there is so much to discover here.
“We are excited for the next chapter and look forward to welcoming back regular and new faces who are stopping by for lunchtime refreshments, after work and studies catch ups or on a night out. Works to our popular courtyard area are also being finalised to offer a weatherproofed area that can be used all year, come rain or shine. Come in and see our new look!”
